With a prevalence of 7% in the general population, thyroglossal duct cysts are the most prevalent congenital cervical malformations. From the base of the tongue to the inferior neck, they might develop anywhere along the thyroid migration tract. In the midline neck, they often appear as cysts that are closely associated with the hyoid bone.
