Abstract

A number of foreign bodies can get lodged in the aerodigestive tract, including but not limited to fishbone, food, and different metallic or non-metallic objects. If it is caught early by otorhinolaryngologists while in the oropharynx it can save the patient from gastroenterology consult for complications like perforation, obstruction and pain due to further passage of FB into the GI tract. Sometimes the FB like fish bone gets embedded in the mucosa of the base of the tongue, tonsil or other parts of the oropharynx hence meticulous examination whether visual with optical cable light or endoscope is essential.
