Abstract

Chronic sialadenitis is a disorder associated with chronic inflammation of salivary glands. The condition expounds repetitive episodes and cogent clinical symptoms of pain and inflammation of salivary glands. Additionally designated as obstructive sialadenitis, the condition occurs on account of impedance of salivary outflow along with salivary stasis emerging as a consequence of duct obstruction concurrent to sialolithiasis. Chronic sialadenitis commonly implicates the adult population between 30 years to 60 years. A male predominance is encountered. Unilateral involvement of submandibular gland is preponderantly (~80%) observed [1,2]. An estimated 15% of salivary gland stones occur within the parotid gland.
