Psoriasis is a chronic autoimmune skin condition with no cure. It goes through cycles of flaring and remission. There is 2% worldwide prevalence of psoriasis out of which 11% Caucasian and Scandinavian population is affected . Asian and African are the least affected populations. It presents at any age. Millions of people worldwide suffer from this disease. It not only leads to physical discomfort but also comes with other comorbidities and mental health disorders. Due to the nature of the disease, individuals often suffer from social anxiety and depression especially with the early onset of the disease. This review focuses on the discussion of causes, pathogenesis and treatment options currently available for psoriasis patients.
