Dr. Mudasir along with his team are endeavoring to answer the following scientific challenges: ? To understand the physiological mechanisms governing, modulating, and perpetuating symbiotic interactions in animals particularly the ones feeding on lignocellulosic biomass. How these mechanisms help the hosts to adapt and evolve under natural conditions. ? How the valorization of the lignocellulose through gut symbionts of insects could prove as efficient model for future biorefinery.

Dr. Kanika Jain
Scientist,
Department of Preclinical Discovery, Immuno-Oncology,
Ankyra Therapeutics,
USA
I want to dedicate my career to developing novel cancer immunotherapies. I am currently working as a Scientist in preclinical discovery at Ankyra Therapeutics. Previously, I worked in the Immuno-Oncology division at Moderna Therapeutics. I conducted my doctoral research at Perelman School of Medicine, University of Pennsylvania. For my thesis, I discovered the mechanisms by which a tumor cell-intrinsic protein called Ubiquitin Specific Protease 6 (USP6) activated cytotoxic Natural Killer cells to inhibit the growth of pediatric tumors like Ewing sarcoma (ES). My work contributed towards the development of a novel therapeutic approach for ES (for which no treatment options exist for metastatic and recurrent disease) as well as other malignancies as an alternative to T-cell targeted therapies, which are sensitive to antigen loss. Previous to this, I graduated from the Master’s in Biotechnology program from the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences at University of Pennsylvania (2015-2017), and a Bachelor’s in Biotechnology from Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT), India (2010-2014). After college, I pursued my interests in cancer therapeutics by working at the Biologics unit of a multi-national pharmaceutical company, Dr. Reddy's Laboratories, in Hyderabad, India (2014-2015). I was proud to be a part of a mission to develop affordable biosimilars for patients in need.
