Abstract
Stress has a detrimental effect on the overall performance of the commercial broiler birds. Stress during early stage and late stage
of broiler raring leads to tremendous adverse effects on the performance of broilers and quality of meat. There are many nutritional
supplements available in the market to reduce stress and boost up productivity. Vinayak Ingredients Pvt. Ltd has developed an excellent
herbal formulation, Nucleovin, a replacement of synthetic poultry feed additives. In the present trial, Cobb 430 Y broiler birds
(n=300) were distributed in control and Nucleovin treatment groups for a period of 1 to 10 days. Birds were allotted rest period
from 10 to 21 days. From 21st day till the end of trial birds were provided with Nucleovin @1 g/ lit of water. Weekly average body
weight, feed consumption, feed conversion ratio (FCR), mortality and clinical signs were recorded. The serum cortisol level and ND,
IBD antibody titres were estimated. The trial data showed significant increase in body weight, optimum FCR value and low mortality
among Nucleovin treated birds as compared to the untreated control group. Nucleovin treatment significantly elevated the antibody
titers and reduced cortisol concentration as compared to the control birds. Hence, Nucleovin played a potential role as an anti-stress
formulation, enhanced immune response and productivity of the commercial broilers.
