Altogether 22 fish species belonging to 9 families were noticed from the Gharni reservoir (Latitude 18022’30” and Longitude 76049’15”) of Latur district in Maharashtra (India), out of which 2 were exotic and 20 were native fish species. The seed of Indian major carps with exotics like Cyprinus carpio and Ctenopharyngodon idella is regularly stocked in the reservoir. The stocking of Cyprinus carpio in Gharni reservoir has nearly eliminated Cirrhinus mrigala.
