Rabies is a fatal deadly zoonotic virus which is transmitted by biting of infected animals. It causes the inflammation of brains, comma and death of animals and humans. The virus can affect the body when it enters the peripheral nervous system (PNS) directly and migrates to the brain. It replicates within muscle tissue, where it is safe from the host’s immune system. From here, it enters the nervous system through the neuromuscular junctions.

Rabies is transmitted mainly by biting through saliva from infected animals. Some people states that consuming the meat of rabid animal is not transmitting the rabies virus to the healthy humans. Sometimes eating the meat of rabid animal is considered as a vaccine for those persons consume the meat. The reason behind it is that the amount of virus present in muscle is a little amount in muscle due to that it migrates to brain and it multiplicates in the brain. I disagree this idea that uncooked carcass or meat has a potential to transmit when butchered and eaten. The virus present in uncooked meat can be transmitted when contacted to the scratched wound. Cooked meat might not be transmitted the virus. The virus is killed by heating.

Finally, I conclude that consuming the meat from a rabid animal is strongly discouraged. It is not advisable to butcher or consume meat of any kind from an infected animal. The carcass should be buried or burned if possible, with advice from a veterinary professional. Rabid virus results a highly social and economic crises in the world especially in developing countries. It is preventable by vaccination and avoiding contact with rabid animals.
