"Mirrors of Learning: How Mirror Neurons Shape our Ability to Learn"

Abstract

Mirror neurons are nerve cells that are activated when one person performs an action, and when observing another perform the same action. These neurons are of great importance for learning, the development of empathy, and social cognition. Many studies have concluded that we understand others not only thanks to thought, but fundamentally to feeling, that is, thanks to the empathic capacity. For this reason, those people whose mirror neuron system does not work properly may have problems in their social relationships, as is the case with people with autism spectrum disorders. Understanding the functioning of mirror neurons has made it possible to organize programs for the rehabilitation of patients with motor disabilities and other brain disorders. The article was built on the basis of a literature review related to the functioning of mirror neurons and their relationship with learning.
