Dr. M. S. Islam is a PhD in Plant Resource production, an avid traveler! Born and raised in the beautiful land of Bangladesh. After completion of his graduation in Agricultural Sciences from Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University, he moved to another awesome country the Netherlands 2013 to pursue my Masters in Plant sciences⸻ Specialization in Plant Breeding and Genetic Resources and then again, in Japan 2015 for the doctoral degree in Plant resource production. Dr. Islam was a fellow of Netherland Fellowship Programme (NFP), 2013; at Wageningen University and Research center, The Netherlands and Japanese Government (Monbukagakusho: MEXT) Scholarship fellow, 2015; at The United Graduate School of Agriculture Sciences, Ehime University, Japan. (Affiliated at Kochi University, Japan). Dr. Islam served as Researcher at Kochi University, Japan (October 2015 – March 2019), Internship Trainee in Plant Research International, Wageningen UR, The Netherlands (November 2014 – March 2015), and Scientific Officer in Bangladesh Agricultural Research Institute (BARI) (January – December 2012). Currently, he is serving as Agricultural Scientist of the Momtaz eco-farm 2020 to lead in a way that best serves the purpose of the organization into the scientific world. An agriculturist by training, Dr. Islam’s multidisciplinary knowledge over Plant sciences including horticulture, plant breeding, plant biotechnology and physiology, phytopathology, farming system and organic agriculture, and farm data management for the support of smallholder (marginal and sub-marginal) farmer made him a leader of the movement ‘more data, better agriculture’ is surely commendable.
Research Interests of MD. Saiful Islam are Plant tissue culture / Micropropagation; Microscopy & Histology; Plant breeding and genetic resources; bulbous flowers, Identification of the barriers to high yields in horticultural crops, and Agricultural farming system.
