Dr. Parmeshwar K. Sahu is a basically a Geneticist and Plant Breeder. He has completed M.Sc. (Ag.) and Ph.D. (Ag.) in Genetics and Plant Breeding from Indira Gandhi Agriculture University, Raipur-492012 (Chhattisgarh), India. He has done his Ph.D. research from Nuclear Agriculture and Biotechnology Division, Bhabha Atomic research Centre, Mumbai, India. He was a gold medallist and meritorious student throughout his academics. He has been awarded INSPIRE fellowship by Department of Science and Technology, Govt. Of India for perusing Ph.D. and also awarded by National fellowship by University Grant Commission, Govt. of India. He has received best master thesis, best oral presentation, best poster presentation and young scientist awards by various national bodies. He has published more than 20 research papers review articles and chapters in various national and international journals. He has presented his work in various national and international conferences/ symposiums and published more than 15 abstracts. He has developed one rice variety as team member for Chhattisgarh state. He has attended several training programmes related to crop improvement
Dr. Parmeshwar K. Sahu is a rice breeder and continuously working for the improvement of rice crop through traditional breeding and modern breeding approaches. He has good technical skills of Plant molecular biology and biotechnology. He has done Ph.D. research in 600 rice landraces for identification and mapping of genomic regions/ QTLs for grain nutritional and quality traits through genome wide association mapping. He had also worked on development of Hybrid rice based on CGMS system. At present he is also working on improvement and revival of traditional rice landraces of Chhattisgarh, India through mutation radiation based induced mutagenesis.
