Dr. Sushil Kumar P. Saxena is serving as Professor & Head (Entomology) in the ASPEE College of Agriculture, Navsari Agricultural University. He began his career from Rajasthan Agricultural University in 1982, joined Gujarat Agricultural University in 1988, Navsari Agricultural University in 2004 and has served in AICRP of Sub-tropical Fruits and tropical Fruits as well as NICRA Project. His total teaching, research and extension experience is of more than thirty five years. He obtained his graduate and Post graduate degrees from University of Udaipur and two Ph.D. degrees viz; in Agricultural Entomology from Navsari Agricultural University and in Forest Entomology from Forest Research Institute, Dehradun. He has passed five e-certificate courses jointly awarded by IIT Kanpur and Commonwealth of learning in various disciplines of Agriculture. He has published more than 85 research papers in International and National Journals besides series of popular articles. He has written technical bulletins, text cum reference books and practical manuals. He has presented 75 research papers in seminars, symposia and workshops. He is life member of many scientific bodies and has acted as Chairman/Co-Chairman in International and National seminars and symposia. He has contributed noticeably in Horticultural Entomology and mango in particular for more than three decades contributing noticeably on Ecological studies, developed IPM and Pest forecasting models as well as pest map and pest calendar. He has released 20 recommendations (Transfer of Technology) for farming and scientific communites including release of mango hybrid “SONPARI”. Besides, he has also contributed considerably in Forest Entomology identifying major insect-pests of teak, hed, sisham, sadad, bamboo, mahuva, arjun and Eucalyptus and their natural enemies for the first time in Gujarat. He has received five awards at national level. He has handled the first ever ATMA Project of Valsad district as Project Director. He has also handled 8 projects (including ICAR sponsored) independently as Principal Investigator and Nodal Officer and handled ICAR sponsored Winter School, as Course Director and presently handling the RKVY Project as PI. He has also worked as UG Academic Incharge for more than 8 years. He is on the Editorial board of journals viz; “Fruits” (France), “Journal of Applied Zoological Researches” and “Green Farming” besides Life member of many scientific societies. He has also guided 11 PG students in Agricultural Entomology and 6 PG students in Forest Entomology wherein he suggested, designed, monitored and assisted in conducting PG students’ research.
Dr. Sushil Kumar Saxena major area of research interests are Horticultural Entomology and Forest Entomology.
