Dr. Anjani Kumar, Scientist, National Rice Research Institute, Cuttack, Odisha, studied mitigation strategies of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by irrigation management based on soil water potential as measured by tensiometer from direct seeded paddy fields. An empirical model based on regression relationship of GHGs emission with key soil parameters was developed to predict seasonal emissions of GHGs from paddy fields. Subsequently, elucidation of effects of elevated atmospheric CO2 concentration on water productivity and physiological changes in rice plant under water deficit stress was done. As a team member, he was actively engaged in developing customized leaf colour chart (CLCC) for real time N management, a visual diagnostic kit for identification of nutrient disorders in rice and a mobile based app RICEXPERT for the farmers for better diagnosis and management of weed, pest, nematodes, nutrient deficiency and toxicity. He has published different articles in indexed journals such as Catena, Field Crops Research, Galderma, Agricultural Ecosystems and Environment, Soil and Tillage Research, Bulletin of Environmental Contamination and Toxicology, Ecological Engineering, Agronomy Journal, The Crop Journal, Soil Use and Management, European Journal of Soil Biology, Ecological Indicators, Ecotoxicology and Environmental Safety, Clean, Journal of Soil and Sediments, Experimental Agriculture. He has presented posters and made oral presentations in many national and international conferences. Moreover, he is reviewer of international journals such as Agricultural Ecosystems and Environment, Pedosphere, Clean, Galderma, Environmental Science and Pollution Research. Also, he is Associate Editorial board of journal: Coryza.
