Dr. Mukesh Bhatt, a Veterinarian by profession is currently working as Scientist (Veterinary Microbiology) under Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR). He has completed his Graduation (BVSc & AH) from Dr. G. C. Negi College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, CSKHPKV, Palampur (Himachal Pradesh) in 2013. He qualified ICAR-PG entrance examination with Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) and subsequently completed his MVSc and PhD in Veterinary Virology from ICAR-IVRI, Izatnagar, Bareilly. He is recipient of University Merit Fellowship and Certificate of Honour for his Graduation degree. He also qualified various exams like ICMR-JRF, ICAR-SRF (Veterinary Microbiology) and ICAR-NET. He is recipient of different awards like: Best Poster Award in conferences, Smt. Sushila Pathak Memorial Best MVSc Thesis Award for the year 2013-15, Research Excellence Award and Young Scientist Award for his achievements. He has participated in various conferences and workshops and presented oral/poster presentations. He has been associated with research in the field of Veterinary Virology for last ten years which include breakthrough advancements like development of a negative marker FMD Virus and reporting a new lineage of canine distemper virus “India-1/Asia-5†circulating among dog population in India. He is holding the life membership of various societies/organizations like; Veterinary Council of India (VCI), Himachal Veterinary Council (HVC), Indian Association of Veterinary Microbiologists, Immunologists and Specialists in Infectious Diseases (IAVMI), Society for Immunology and Immunopathology (SIIP), Indian Society for Advancement of Canine Practice (ISACP) and World Society for Virology (WSV). He has published more than 12 research articles, 15 popular articles and 14 book chapters in international and national journals. He is currently working in close association with farmers and is associated with a number of projects and schemes intended for upliftment of farming community in the country. He has delivered several lectures in the field of “Organic Livestock Farming†to the farmers and officers or stakeholders of Veterinary and Animal Sciences during his service as Scientist (Animal Health) at ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Gangtok, Sikkim.
