Dr. Sivaraman did Master’s (MVSc) and Doctoral Programme (PhD) in Animal Genetics at Indian Council of Agricultural Research- Indian Veterinary Research Institute, Izatnagar, Uttar Pradesh. Secured a merit scholarship for UG and Junior Research Fellowship (ICAR) and Senior Research Fellowship (Council of Scientific and Industrial Research) for Master’s & PhD programme. Worked as Assistant Professor at KVAFSU, Karnataka from 2003 to 2006. Joined as Scientist at ICAR-DCFR, Bhimtal, Uttarakhand in 2007. And then selected for Senior Scientist and now working as Principal Scientist in the Dept. of Microbiology & Biotechnology at ICAR- CIFT, Cochin since February 2016. His research is focused on understanding the status of antibiotic resistant pathogens viz., MRSA, ESBL producing Enterobacteriaceae in seafood & aquaculture. He was associated in more than 15 projects and published 50 research papers in the peer reviewed journals, and 90 abstracts are presented in the seminars/ Conferences. Submitted over 250 DNA sequences and 100 Whole Genome sequences to the repository (NCBI). Received more than 15 awards so far viz., DST- SYSP from DBT, Best presentations (07) and Best posters (10). He was deputed for International Training to North Carolina State University. Worked as Scientist-In Charge, Regional Centre of CIFT, Gujarat and acting as an Authorized signatory for testing of Microbial quality of seafood for export purposes to EU countries from India. Presently handling 2 Indo- UK projects and a DBT funded project on Development AMR diagnostics, NGS analysis of AMR pathogen in one-health perspectives and Microbiome of Shrimp gut.
