Dr. Madhoosudan Patil is currently working as postdoctoral fellow at University of Colorado, Denver with Dr. Uday Kompella. His current work focuses on the nanomedicine and drug delivery to treat back of the eye diseases. They use targeted nanoparticle approach to deliver the small molecules as well as bio therapeutics to treat retinal diseases. Also we test the efficacy of the novel molecules/formulations in various animal models for eye disease such as diabetic retinopathy, animal model for hereditary retinal dystrophies, etc using in-vivo imaging and electrophysiological approach. During his doctoral work he studied various diabetic animal rodent models and explored their suitability to develop secondary complications of diabetes in particular cataract, retinopathy and nephropathy. There, I he used neonatal Streptozotocin, Nicotinamide Streptozotocin, High Fat High Fructose induced diabetes in Wistar, Sprague Dawley as well as GR-Ob (spontaneously obese rat with glucose intolerance) rats.
Dr. Madhoosudan Patil research interests are drug discovery, delivery, and efficacy for treating diseases of the eye and the lung.
