Dr. Ahmad did his masters in chemistry from IIT, Roorkee (2000) and Ph.D. from IIT, Delhi (2006) with Prof A. K. Ganguli on the thrust area of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology. Immediately after PhD, he joined Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemistry. He is privileged to work with Bharat Ratna Prof. C.N.R. Rao as Visiting scientist in 2015 and 2016. Apart from his wide research interest on Chemistry of Nanomaterials, Dr. Ahmad is more inclined towards the development of functional nanomaterials for photocatalytic and energy applications. He has supervised seven PhD’s, 42 post graduate students and currently supervising five Ph.D. students. Dr. Ahmad has received seven research projects from DST, CSIR, UGC, JMI innovative programme and one international project from Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Dr. Ahmad has published 90 research papers in peer-reviewed journals of international repute and authored a book on Principles of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology to his credit. His current research citation more than 1928 with h-index of 26. Dr. Ahmad has been the active life member of various National and International academic societies including American Nano-society. He has been delivered 54 Invited lectures and presented 96 research papers at National and International platforms. He is also appointed as Coordinator, Swachh Bharat Mission (Urban) e-learning program of Ministry of Urban Development, Govt of India in Jamia Millia Islamia. Dr. Ahmad has also received DST-DFG award from Govt. of India (2009), ISCAS Medal (2011) for the significant contribution on Solid State Chemistry and Allied Areas especially on Nanoscience and Nanotechnology and prestigious Inspired Teacher’s recognition from Hon’ble President of India in 2015. Prof. Dr. Tokeer Ahmad is awarded with 'Distinguished Scientist Award' for the year 2019 by the Indian Association of Solid State Chemists and Allied Scientists.
