Dr. Ratheesh received his Ph.D. in optical imaging (Optical coherence tomography for bio-imaging applications) from Nanyang Technological University Singapore (2017). He completed his Bachelor’s degree (B.Tech) in Electronics & Communication Engineering from University of Calicut, India(2006) and Master’s Degree (M.Tech) in Optoelectronics & Optical communication from the University of Kerala, India (2011). He also serves as an active member of SPIE, ARVO, IEEE/IEEE Photonics Society and ISTE. Currently, he is a scientist at University of California Health System. He involved in the research and development of the advanced imaging tools such as Optical coherence tomography (OCT), directional OCT, OCT Angiography (OCTA), multi-color fluorescent microscopy/spectroscopy for the retinal imaging applications. His research also focused on the implementation of novel algorithms for the in vivo retinal data analysis and retinal layer segmentation. His research further investigates the potential of these advanced imaging tools in mouse disease models to understand the underlying mechanisms of various retinal diseases.
Dr. Ratheesh Kumar Meleppat's research interests include Retinal/ophthalmic Imaging, Optical coherence Tomography (OCT), Adaptive optics, Scanning laser ophthalmoscopy (SLO), Optical instrumentation, Retinal autofluorescence.
