Dr. Julie Costopoulos is an Associate Professor at the Florida Institute of Technology in Melbourne, Florida, USA. She completed her Ph.D. at New York University in 2007. Dr. Costopoulos' career has been in the area of forensic psychology. She served as the senior forensic psychologist for the Sexually Violent Predator Program of Florida. Previously she served at a forensic psychiatric inpatient unit at Florida State Hospital where she conducted therapy and forensic assessments. Her research focuses on deviant behavior in all settings, treatment approaches, and therapeutic courts. She currently has nine publications on these topics, and is coordinating an efficacy study of community programs managing mentally ill offenders.
Dr. Julie Costopoulos’ research interest include criminal behavior, psychopathology, psychoanalytic theory, and the legal system.
