Dr. Marcella Maddaluno is a Biotechnologist working as scientist at Kedrion BioPharma. In 2005 Dr. Marcella Maddaluno earned the Bachelor Degree in Health Biotechnology (Mark: 110 out of 110 “cum laude”) at the University of Naples Federico II, Italy. In 2007, in the same University, she earned the B.Sc. (Hons) in Pharmaceutical Biotechnology (Mark: 110 out of 110 “cum laude”). In 2011 Dr. Marcella Maddaluno earned the Ph.D. in Pharmacology, at the Department of Experimental Pharmacology, University of Naples Federico II, with a thesis regarding the pathophisiological mechanisms and the possible therapeutic targets of vascular injury. During the Pharmacology PhD program, Dr. Marcella Maddaluno investigated the role of immuneinflammatory response in cardiovascular disease by using a wide range of in vitro, in vivo and ex vivo approaches (cell cultures, animal models, histology and molecular biology techniques); she also spent 1 year at the University of Glasgow (UK) to do research in this field.
Dr. Marcella Maddaluno focused her investigations on the immune system in the context of adjuvants development and vaccine generation, carrying out functional and localization studies by Flow Cytometry, Immunoassays and Imaging Technologies. Currently Dr. Marcella Maddaluno works at Kedrion BioPharma in the field of protein purification and characterization from human plasma, in order to obtain products as therapy to rare diseases, coagulation disorders and immunodeficiencies. She also conducts scientific support to pharmaceutical patents.
