Dr. Arindam Mitra is currently the Department in Charge in the Department of Microbiology, School of Science at Adamas University, India. He acquired his PhD in Microbiology at University of Maryland, College Park in 2008. He completed his postdoctoral work in the Centre for Infectious Diseases and Vaccinology at the Arizona State University, Tempe, Arizona, USA. Dr. Mitra has over 15 years of research experience in the field of Microbiology with focus on Microbial Pathogenesis and Vaccine Development. He has so far published more than 12 research articles in internationally peer reviewed journals such as PLOS One, Vaccine, Infection and Immunity, Clinical and Vaccine Immunology. He has served as reviewer for many reputed group of journals including Food Research International, Vaccine and Veterinary Research. Dr. Mitra received numerous awards such as Distinguished Faculty Award, Indo-Global Education Excellence Award in 2016 and 2017 respectively. Dr. Mitra is currently serving as Champions for the Microbiology Society from India.
Dr. Mitra’s research interests include a) Regulation and development of natural, industrial and clinical biofilms: Delineation of target pathways that leads to biofilm formation in clinical/food-borne pathogens and environmental microbes. b) Microbial pathogenesis: Characterization and identification of novel virulence genes in food-borne and clinical bacterial pathogens. c) Construction and evaluation of veterinary vaccines: Studies on safety and effectiveness of mutants as vaccine candidates in clinical or food-borne pathogens.
