Dr Sanath Kumar has been working as District Tuberculosis and HIV AIDS Controlling Officer since 2013 to present. He Achieved more than 87% success rates in TB cure, 3% Lost to Follow Up and death rate 8% in 2013 – 2017. Also Achieved decreased in number of HIV patients, prevalence from 1.5 to below 1% from 2013 to 2018. He succeeded in decentralizing DR-TB center from state headquarters to district level, Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with private Medical College, by this increased in patient’s compliance for treatment and adherence. Achieved more than 85% in sputum conversion rate from positive to negative. By Involving Private Practitioners in Revised National TB Control Programme, achieved 98% private referral to programme (Published research paper by IPH and ITM, for this paper I’m a co-investigator). By Providing nutrition to poor TB patients from his own funds and collected from well- wishers and there by achieved more than 87% success rate, decreased lost to follow up rates from 8 to 3% (For this best services to mankind I was honored with district (2015) and state (2016) prestigious award “Sarvothama Seva Prashasthi†on Republic Day. During COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 the district case detection in TB (CDR) down to 45%, we from NTEP staff’s and myself visited every patients house distributed medicines for 2 months, screened contacts in patients house and provided food groceries from our own fund for those who needy TB patients, we also continuously monitored TB patients and their contacts. Since the COVID-19 pandemic started we from NTEP collected sputum samples from Influenza Like Illness (ILI), SARI cases and extensively screened TB presumptive cases by mobile x-ray van and also referred to general hospitals for x-rays, by this we improved case detection by 15%.
