Prof. Kabi Prasad Pokhrel, PhD is a Napali national which born in 1966 at the remote district of Nepal. He is a Professor of Environment Geography at Tribhuvan University, Nepal. Prof. Pokharel has more than twenty five years experience in the field of spatial planning and integrated rural development. He had completed more than fifty national importance research and development projects in the capacity of Team Leader. Prof Pokhrel did his PhD research on Local efforts on resource conservation and Eco- development in Mid Western Nepal from Banaras Hindu University, India. He has been working on various professional experiences on research coordinator, team leader and expert on a number of qualitative and quantitative researches, impact assessment and mid-term as well as final evaluation conducted in various parts of Nepal. He has been equally engaging in many developments related activities such as environment change adaptation, livelihood improvement, district level periodic plan preparation, and case study on development issues. He also took part in a series of workshops and trainings on various development issues both national and international levels. He is the author of 65 research articles which published on national and international professional and scientific journals. Around eight research articles are also available in Online Journals. He has also reviewed more than 100 scientific research papers of peer review international journals. He has also written many books on various themes such as Research Methodology, Natural Resource Management, Culture Climate change and Food Insecurity in Nepal, Environment and Development Planning in Nepal, and Environment Education. Prof. Pokharel has had an opportunity for framing higher education policy in Nepal and engaged as an expert of initial environment examination (IEE) and environment impact assessment (EIA) in various sectors. At present, he is working in the capacity of Planning chief of the Research Centre where he is working as a permanent faculty.
Prof. Pokhrel research interests are environment and development, spatial planning, organic farming and natural resources management. Indigenous seed protection and production, Medicinal and aromatic plants conservation and sustainable livelihood improvement are major research interest.
