Dr. Christian’s education and clinical residency experience enabled her to complete the requirements and examination to become a board certified physical therapist in New York 2010 , Illinois State (2016) and in New Jersey (2017). Dr.Christian has been actively working as a full-time Physical therapist in New York since 2010, and is currently working as Lead Physical Therapist in one of the prestigious out-patient physical therapy facility in New Jersey. While working as a licensed PT, she acquired advanced certifications in Corrective Exercise Specialist and Senior Fitness Specialist from the National Academy of Sports Medicine. Dr.Christian also holds an advanced certification in Maitland techniques of neural-soft tissue mobilization and Strength and Conditioning specialist by AMFPT. Because of her keen interest and profound knowledge in the field of physical therapy, she started volunteering as a physical therapist content writer and volunteer at Physiopedia, a renown online Wikipedia for physical therapy. While she was doing her Doctorate, she did extensive research in analyzing the effectiveness of Wii games in treating children with Arnold-Chiari malformation. Her research and use of Wii-games not only helped her to achieve stupendous results, but also helped her in using and cultivating the same protocol to improve dynamic balance in patients with Parkinson’s disorder and other gait abnormalities. Due to her compassion for her patients and her passion in the field, she has also achieved extremely impressive results in treating patients with Multiple sclerosis by using aquatic therapy , interval training protocols and energy conservation techniques. Dr. Christian has a keen interest in research opportunities in improving dynamic balance in patients with neurological deficits by using biofeedback. Dr.Christian has also completed various advance courses in physical therapy including advance courses from the reputed Wilk-institute. She has also acquired various advanced certificates hosted by coursera, edx and Harvardx. Due to her extensive and profound knowledge of anatomy and physiology, Dr.Christian has also worked as a Massage therapy instructor at Institute of Health Education in Jersey city (NJ). Dr. Christian is also an avid reader and volunteers as a book reviewer at various online book clubs. Dr.Christian currently lives in New jersey (USA) with her husband and enjoys reading, writing and blogging in her free time.
Dr. Sweta Christian PT, DPT, NASM-CES, NASM-SFS- Dr.Christian’s clinical research lies in the area of musculoskeletal, orthopedics, and sports physical therapy. Her primary focus is on using muscle energy techniques including the reciprocal inhibition technique to maximize results in patients with s/p ACL reconstruction using allograft. Her current protocol involves using extensive evidence based research in rehabilitating individuals with ACL reconstructive surgeries by primarily using intense exercise protocol, biofeedback, neuromuscular re-education and reciprocal inhabitation to achieve optimum results and prevent recurrent injuries. Her preliminary data has shown promising results of this novel approach to care for individuals with post-ops ACL and also with other post-operative surgeries. Her rigorous protocol involving neuromuscular electrical stimulation and use of reciprocal inhibition has shown promising results in teenagers and athletes with post-surgical reconstructive surgeries
