Prof. Dibua, Uju Marie Esther, is a Professor of Epidemiology and Public Health, University of Nigeria, Nsukka, Nigeria, with a Ph.D in Medical Microbiology. She has more than 19 years of teaching and research experience in medical, clinical, pharmaceutical Microbiology and ethnomedical research. Her contributions to science have provided insight into some response measures, prevention and control strategies of a number of infectious and non-infectious disease agents. She is an esteemed authority in infectious disease research, including; HIV/AIDS, sexually transmitted infections (STDs), tuberculosis (TB), diseases of poverty including malaria, filariasis and other parasitic infestations. She was the first in Nsukka to elucidate the predisposing socio-cultural and socio-economic predisposing risk factors to HIV/AIDS, as well as the co-infectivity of HIV and atypical Mycobacteria, and the co-infectivity of HIV and Chlamydia trachomatis. She has successfully supervised over 400 students at the graduate and undergraduate levels, and is a recipient of several national and international awards including the esteemed Third World Academy of Science (TWAS)/ German Research Foundation (DFG) awards, and has numerous high impact factor journals to her credit.
