Biography

Prof. Afaf Khedr, DR. (Doctor of Philosophy in Veterinary Medical Sciences (Bacteriology, Immunology, and Mycology). microbiological department. Faculty of veterinary medicine. Cairo University. She was born in Egypt in January 1971. She was gained the Master degree of microbiology (Evaluation of A Combined Living avirulent Vaccine for Fowl Cholera and Newcastle Disease Virus) from Cairo Unv.1998, and PhD. Of microbiology (Application of New Technology for Preparation of Fowl Cholera Vaccine). She is a renowned scientist and distinguished academician with 27 publications. She works as Chief Researcher (Professor of Microbiology and Immunology) Specialized in: Microbiology. She is playing a role in updating of Egyptian protocols for Evaluation of bacterial poultry vaccine in Central laboratories for Evaluation of Veterinary Biologics (CLEVB). She Acts as a Trainer for the Afro-Asian students and postgraduates on different activities related to veterinary biologics. She has experience in the application, uses, auditing, Implementation of ISO 17025. She is associated as Reviewer in online journals and Membership of Professional Associations. She participated in MENA Regional Biorisk Management Symposium. Sep. 2017. She is a member of research team of the protective efficacy and Immunogenicity of DNA vaccine coding for H5 gene of avian influenza virus (H5N1) 2008-STDF project, and also in the NIAID Influenza Genome Sequencing Consortium.2013.With participation of JCVI/CLEVB, Cairo/NCBI, and National Center for Biotechnology Information, NIH, Bethesda, and MD20894 USA which all data of Egyptian isolates of avian influenza sequencing (2008-2012) submitted in Gene Bank.

Prof. Afaf Khedr Research interest are Veterinary Public Health, microbiology, Biotechnology, Bioinformatics, Diagnosis of infectious diseases , Bacteriological approaches, Virology approaches, DNA vaccine preparation and Biosafety & Biosecurity approaches.
