Professor Adam Dziki graduated from Medical Academy in Lodz, Poland, where he started his career and works until today. He is professor of surgery and chairman of the Department of General and Colorectal Surgery. Between 2002-2008 he was the vice Rector of the Medical University in Lodz. Professor Dziki has got a medical experience also in USA. In 1988-1991 he was awarded a Fulbright Scholarship and worked in Washington DC with Professors John Harmon and Norman Rich in the Military Medical University. He has been trained in many international surgical centers. His main interest is colorectal surgery. He is very active in this field and was invited to give lectures in many countries across the world. He was one of the founders and first president of the European Society of Coloproctology. He held many positions in other international surgical societies. He was a member of the Executive Committee of the International Society of Surgery. Professor Dziki was in 2011-2013 President of the Association of Polish Surgeons and currently he is the secretary general of this Association. Professor Dziki is author of more than 280 papers, book chapters and books. He was member of the editorial boards of many surgical journals for example Colorectal Disease, Zentralblatt fur Chirurgie, Langenbecks Archives of Surgery, Techniques in Proctology. He is also Editor-in-Chief of the Polish Journal of Surgery. His achievements were awarded by many surgical societies. He is an honorary fellow of the American College of Surgeons, Royal College of Surgeons of Great Britain, American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons, German Surgical Society, European Society of Coloproctology, German Society of Visceral Surgery and many others.
