Dr. Tanveer Hussain, (Associate Professor, Department of Molecular Biology, VUP, Lahore) has completed D.V.M. in 2006 and M.Phil in Animal Breeding & Genetics in 2008 with distinction and received Ph.D. in Molecular Biology & Biotechnology in 2013. He has been engaged in teaching and research from last ten years as lecturer and assistant professor in University of Veterinary & Animal Sciences, Lahore and currently in Virtual University of Pakistan. He has been a fellow researcher at Cornell University, NY, USA and at joint FAO/ IAEA Animal Production and Health Laboratory, Vienna, Austria. Currently, he is running two research projects funded by Higher Education Commission of Pakistan as PI and has completed two research projects funded by AAAS, USA and WWF-Pakistan. He has been Co-Principal Investigator of 7 and team member of 5 different research projects sponsored by national and international funding agencies. He has participated in 85 different conferences/ workshops and presented his work in USA, Brazil, Austria, New Zealand, Japan, Malaysia, Thailand, Singapore, China, Turkey, Egypt, Sudan, Morocco, Kazakhstan, and UAE. 112 of his research abstracts have been accepted. He has guided 26 M.Phil students as supervisor and 52 M.Phil students as member of supervisory committee. He has 127 research publications in peer reviewed/ impact factor journals along with 5 books/chapters, and 7 proceedings as co-editor. He has reported 909 DNA sequences to GenBank (NCBI), USA, available globally. He is member of 12 different professional societies.
Currently he is working on genome diversity, characterization, evolution history, phylogenetics, forensics, heat tolerance and immunogenetics of domestic (Cattle, Buffalo, Sheep, Goat, Camel, Yak, and Chicken) and wild endangered animals (Urial, Markhor, Himalayan ibex, and Snow leopard) of Pakistan in Molecular Biology Lab at Virtual University of Pakistan. He has active research collaborations with different international research groups.
