Dr. Vijaya Kumar Charaka, got his Master degree in Biochemistry from the Osmania University. He completed his PhD in the field of life sciences at Homi Bhabha National Institute, Mumbai, India in 2013 and later joined as a Post-Doctoral researcher in Houston Methodist Research Institute. In HMRI he started to work on chromatin epigenetics field from May 2014. Dr. Charaka promoted to and working as Research Associate scientist in HMRI since Feb 2019 to date. During this time he managed to publish a lot of publications and attend different International conferences in Cancer epigenetics and DNA Repair field. Dr. Charaka has also worked on a wide range of projects and his work has received extensive recogniation through publications in highly recognized journals in the DNA repair field. In his recent publications, he studied DNA repair within the context of chromatin structure and modification. Dr.Charaka has made important discoveries that have been published in highly visible cancer research journals, including Nature Cell Biology, Communication Biology of Nature, i-Science and others. Furthermore, he has been awarded many national and internal national fellowships like CSIR, OCES-DAE and DAAD visiting scientist fellowship.
Dr. Vijaya Kumar Charaka Research interest includes Drugs that effect Chromatin epigenetics; DNA repair; Caner Therapeutics; Chromatin modulation; and Cancer initiation.
