Dr. Preeti Kanikarla Marie is a postdoctoral fellow in the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Centre working in the field of colorectal cancer. She received her Master’s in Biotechnology in the New York University Tandon School of Engineering and then went on to pursue her PhD in Biochemistry at Louisiana State University Health where she worked on understanding the role of hyperketonemia in the pathophysiology of type 1 diabetes. Her thesis highlights the role of ketones in upregulating inflammation and oxidative stress. Her postdoctoral career began with the study of pathways in insulin resistance using tissue specific ghrelin receptor knock out mice. Currently she works on understanding the pathways of resistance to immunotherapy and identifying the role of platelets in colorectal tumour biology
Dr. Preeti Kanikarla Marie’s Research interests include Diabetes, Ketosis, cardiovascular disease, atherosclerosis, oxidative stress, vitamin D, L-cysteine, colorectal cancer, platelets, immuno therapy.
