Dr. Dhriti Kr. Brahma is an Associate Professor in the Department of Pharmacology, North Eastern Indira Gandhi Regional Institute of Health and Medical Sciences (NEIGRIHMS), Shillong, Meghalaya, India, Co-ordinator of ADR Monitoring Centre, NEIGRIHMS under the Pharmacovigilance Programme of India (PvPI) and Member, Institutional Animal Ethics Committee (IAEC), NEIGRIHMS. He possesses Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree in Pharmacology from Gauhati Medical College, Guwahati, Assam under the Gauhati University. He joined the services of the Health Department of Assam state of India as Demonstrator of Pharmacology at Assam Medical College, Dibrugarh in 2001. Subsequently he served in the same capacity in Gauhati Medical College, Guwahati w.e.f 2001 to 2006. He was promoted to the rank of Assistant professor of Pharmacology and served in Assam Medical College, Dibrugarh (2006 to 2008). He resigned from the services of the state of Assam and joined as Assistant Professor of Pharmacology in a North Eastern Indira Gandhi Regional institute of Health and Medical Sciences (NEIGRIHMS), Shillong, India in 2009. He was promoted to the rank of Associate Professor of Pharmacology in 2013 in NEGRIHMS. He has the experience of successfully setting up of Department of Pharmacology as per Medical Council of India requirements and animal house facility of NEIGRIHMS in 2009 and 2011 respectively. He started the of first ever Institutional Animal Ethics Committee (IAEC) of NEIGRIHMS in 2011 and served as Member Secretary, IAEC, NEIGRIHMS from Dec 2012 to May 2018. He successfully served as the In-charge of the department of Pharmacology of NEIGRIHMS w.e.f Feb; 2009 to April 2014. He has been Member of various academic and curriculum committees of NEIGRIHMS including MSc Nursing course. He has the distinction of serving as In- Charge of Examination Section of NEIGRIHMS from Oct 2010 to May 2017. He is also involved in organizing successfully the National Conference of India Pharmacological Society in 2014 at Guwahati. He also organized several workshops/CMEs/Seminars at NEIGRIHMS successfully. He is a faculty member trained in Medical education and research. He has many National and International publications in his name in the reputed journals. He is also a reviewer of many journals including Indian Journal of Public Health. He has been involved in internet based academic activities on Pharmacology since 2009 through sharing of PowerPoint presentations on almost all topics of Pharmacology curriculum of undergraduate medical education through a blog in slideshare, the first ever of its kind in the Internet.
Dr. Brahma`s research interest includes Pharmacoepidemiology, pharmacovigilance, pharmacoeconomics and geriatric pharmacovigilance.
