Dr. Ioannis K. Karabagias is a Chemistry graduate (Ptychion) of the University of Ioannina (2004). He earned his MSc. in Food Science and Technology from Ioannina University, Chemistry Department, Section of Industrial and Food Chemistry, Ioannina, Greece in 2008, while the year 2007-2008 he fulfilled his army duty. The period 2008-2010 he has worked as a chemist for PIRINAS S.A. crude olive oil industry in his hometown Kalamata, Messinia, Peloponnese, Greece, as teaching personnel in several high schools of Messinia and at the Technical Educational Institute of Kalamata, Department of Food Science and Technology, Laboratory of Chemistry and Biochemistry of Agricultural products. He was also a technical advisor for olive pits barbecue briquettes KLIMIS, VAS. & EK.KOTTARIDI, G.P years 2009-2010. The period 2010-2014 he was a PhD candidate at the University of Ioannina, Chemistry Department, Section of Industrial and Food Chemistry, and earned his PhD in Food Chemistry October 2014. Now he is a Post Doctoral researcher at University of Ioannina, Department of Chemistry, Laboratory of Food Chemistry and Technology. He has published 38 articles in International peer-reviewed Journals and one book chapter. He is a reviewer of more than 20 International peer-reviewed journals. His published work has attracted until now 311 citations (Research Gate metrics), having a Hirsch index=8.The years 2013-2015, he participated in the research project: ’’Authenticity of selected products from Epirus’’, funded by European and Greek funds.
Dr. Ioannis K. Karabagias research interests include: Food Chemistry, Food Authentication, Non Thermal Methods of Food Preservation, Food Microbiology, Food Analysis, Natural Antioxidants of Agricultural products, Nutritional Aspects of Foods, etc.
