LÃgia Aurélio Bezerra Maranhão Mendonça attends the Universidade Católica Dom Bosco, focusing on biotechnology applied to human health, developing prevention strategies - anti-mutagenicity, anti-genotoxicity and anti-carcinogenicity – from the medicinal therapies (medicinal plants) in vitro and in vivo systems. M.Sc. Mendonça’s researchs also focus in plant phytochemistry, with biomonitoring by tests of biological activity (cytotoxicity and toxicity). She is currently doctor student in biotechnology applied to human health, developing research in the area of strategies for the prevention and/or therapy of Noncommunicable Diseases (NCDs), especially of diabetes mellitus type 2 (DM2), by means of dietary alternatives (functional foods) and medicinal therapies (medicinal plants) in in vivo test systems.
